Caroline Barrett

Having started her career as a solicitor in private practice, Caroline then worked in-house in the world of business, before moving into public service in local government (both district council and town council). As Town Clerk, Caroline worked closely with many local community groups and charities, and became more interested in the links between individuals and communities, as well as the importance of wider engagement and of mutual understanding and respect. Following a role at the Church of England in the Bishop’s Office, Caroline now works in palliative care with those with life limiting conditions. She manages Day Services at St Elizabeth Hospice, where holistic care and support is provided to patients, families and carers of all faiths and of none. She is interested in the part a person’s faith and spirituality plays towards the end of life, and how powerful this can be in our collective search for answers to difficult questions. She enjoys walking up mountains (not many in Suffolk) and being by the sea.
